Information and Communication Technology, usually called ICT, is related with telecommunications in modern information technology. ICT systems are based on tools for handling information and communication and thus they include computers, networks, software and hardware needed for management or transmission of information (text, audio or video).

During the past year, ICTs continued to spread throughout the world, and more and more people have access to the Internet. An increase spreading of ICTs is due to the availability of cellular networks and mobile devices that allow users to access the Internet everywhere. Internet access speeds have also increased, with fixed broadband replacing dial-up in most developed countries, accompanied by a decline in tariffs. Therefore ICTs are essential instruments of today’s research and development of innovative systems for different technological sectors.

The project ICT4E2B will focus on those aspects of ICT related with systems developed for improvement of energy performances of buildings.
