WHAT'S NEW?

ICT4E2B Project Review. The first review of ICT4E2B forum project has been recently held, where project first year achievements have been evaluated against the expected objectives. The review has underlined the general high-quality of activities performed and content delivered, nevertheless it was clear that further efforts on gathering stakeholders’ inputs and validation will allow to improve and complete project results in a comprehensive and shared vision.

 Energy Roadmap 2050.On 15 December 2011, the European Commission adopted the Communication "Energy Roadmap 2050" [182 KB] . The EU is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 80-95% below 1990 levels by 2050 in the context of necessary reductions by developed countries as a group. In the Energy Roadmap 2050 the Commission explores the challenges posed by delivering the EU's decarbonisation objective while at the same time ensuring security of energy supply and competitiveness. The Energy Roadmap 2050 is the basis for developing a long-term European framework together with all stakeholders.

 2011 Technology Mapof the SET-Plan is now available. The third edition of the Technology Map addresses 20 different technologies, covering the whole spectrum of the energy system, including both supply and demand technologies.

 The Johnson Controls Institute for Building Efficiency released a new report Driving Transformation to Energy Efficient Buildings: Policies and Actions. The report shares strategies for policy makers in emerging economies to include building efficiency policies in their nationally appropriate mitigation actions (NAMAs) and low carbon development strategies. It reviews recent efforts to transform buildings through policy; discusses options for governmental action and policy and outlines a pathway to implementation.
